The one-hour Zoom session will provide information about KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support and the process by which our volunteers mentor youth.
KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions you may have about our program. This is a great first step to seeing if this opportunity is the right fit for you!

Step 2:

Submit an online application. 

• Be 21 years of age or older.

• Provide 4 references with email addresses.

• Provide your driver’s license number for the mandatory background check.

• You must complete the application in a single session; you will not be able to save and return to it later.

Step 3:

INTERVIEW

• Our Training Director will contact you to schedule an interview. The interview is an opportunity for KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support staff to get to know the applicant and learn more about why they want to be a mentor. The interview is part of the screening process and ensures a good fit. During the interview, KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support staff will talk through the expectations of the KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support mentor role and answer your questions.

• Applicants must successfully pass screening, background checks, and fingerprint requirements prior to training.

Step 4:

TRAIN

• Angelina County offers training throughout the year.  As required by KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support, each volunteer must participate in at least 30 hours of classroom training to become a mentor. This training must be face-to-face, while the other portion can be through independent study.  We at KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support understand that each trainee has other responsibilities, so we work to fit training into each person's time and schedule.
  KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support works to make training fun!  Each training session is full of discussion and different activities, such as guest speakers, presentations, videos, and much more.  

• Once you have successfully completed the full 30 hours of classroom training you will become a L.Y.F.E. Coach for KaleidosCOPE L.Y.F.E. Support.

 

Step 5:

Mentor

• Be able to keep information confidential and work within established program guidelines.

• Be able to serve at least  ___ hours per month).
